4 PRINCIPLES…4 REASONS
All the good works we do are informed by our four core principles:

CHARITY
Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer every day.

UNITY
None of us is as good as all of us. Members of the Knights of Columbus all know that – together – we can accomplish far more than any of us could individually. So we stick together…we support one another.

FRATERNITY
Venerable Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, in large part, to provide assistance to the widows and children left behind when the family breadwinner died – often prematurely. The Order’s top-rated insurance program continues to do this today, as do the good works of individual Knights.

PATRIOTISM
We are proud of our devotion to God and country, and believe in standing up for both. Whether it’s in public or private, the Knights remind the world that Catholics support our nations and are amongst the greatest citizens.

OUR COUNCIL
Knights of Columbus Good Shepherd Council 10685 was chartered on August 12, 1991, with 36 charter members. Brother George Morrison Jr. spearheaded the effort to form a parish council at Good Shepherd. Monsignor Vincent Smith was the pastor of Good Shepherd Church at the time and supported George in all his efforts. The Council was formed to serve the pastor and people of Good Shepherd Parish and to provide the men of the parish a Catholic fraternal organization where they could share their faith and work with other Catholic gentlemen in service to the parish.

ENGAGED IN SERVICE
“Father McGivney’s vision had prepared the Knights of Columbus to fully embrace the reinvigoration of the role of the laity in life of the Church in the Second Vatican Council and in the subsequent pontificates of St. John Paul II, and Popes Benedict XVI and Francis.”
